Why the seasonal influenza immunity does not help?
Due to vaccinations and seasonal influenza occurrence every year people in US are mostly immune. Immunity means where in the body produces certain specialized proteins called antibodies in response to a typical virus. These antibodies once formed in the body are able to detect and destroy the virus once they attack our body again. The antibodies are known to work on the principle of recognizing the proteins on the outer covering of the virus and initiating reactions against it. The new form i.e. the novel H1N1 virus has modified its protein structure which can easily escape the existing antibodies for the seasonal influenza virus and leads to infection.
