Vaccine of Swine Flu
What are the facts about Vaccinations?
As of now there are no specific vaccines available to prevent the occurrence of novel influenza. Even though vaccinations are available to stop the occurrence of seasonal influenza, these vaccines are not effective against the novel H1N1 influenza virus. Research is on to produce the new vaccine within next few months. Also the steps involved in the production of the vaccine and the total time required for the enormous production may come in the way in effective supply of these vaccines all over the world. But once these vaccines are available, the efforts to control the spread of the novel H1N1 virus causing swine flu will gain importance.
What are the difficulties in prevention and treatment of wineflu?
The swine flu virus has the ability to undergo modifications in their protein structure when they come in contact with medicines, or vaccines, or with other similar viruses from different animals. For more understanding in detail about this property, below is the brief about the vaccines, prevention for swine flu and vaccine production.
Production of vaccines
Vaccines are produced based on the human ability to develop antibodies against the virus. Human body produces certain antibodies when it comes in contact with harmful microorganisms. These antibodies identify the microorganisms and alert the body protective mechanism to kill them. The antibodies once produced against a particular virus can remain potent enough to recognize the same organisms if they invade even after few decades. Vaccines are weaker forms of the infectious organisms which when injected leads to the formation of antibodies. This helps in preparing and keeping the virus in check at the time of attack.
Why is swine vaccine not available?
Vaccines has been developed for the seasonal virus that exists and invades human, since the H1N1 novel influenza is new with modified protein and structure the vaccine or the antibodies find it difficult to identify the new strain and fight against it and provide the protection. Because of this and the vaccine acting only on the seasonal flu it has become impossible to control the novel influenza virus on a large scale and its spread.
This will lead to the spread of the virus and affect humans on a large numbers. This will continue until the vaccines are produced and become available on a large scale for protection. The better measure till than is to take precautionary measures.
